Artlist vs AudioJungle: Music for Client Work and One-Off Projects
Artlist suits ongoing production when you need to audition and license music across qualifying projects during a subscription. AudioJungle suits a defined production with a chosen cue and a license you purchase for that project. For freelance work, compare Artlist Pro with the appropriate AudioJungle music tier; Artlist Social does not cover client work.
A single commissioned video and a year of commissioned videos create different costs. The Artlist vs AudioJungle decision also changes if a client expects new cutdowns next year, television distribution or access to raw music files. Agree on those deliverables before buying the soundtrack.

1. Pricing and billing commitment
| Purchase | Advertised basis | Commitment or project unit |
|---|---|---|
| Artlist Music & SFX Social | $14.99 monthly, or $9.99/month with annual billing | Personal social use; about $119.88/year from rounded rate |
| Artlist Music Pro | $16.58/month with annual billing | About $198.96/year from rounded rate; music without SFX |
| Artlist Music & SFX Pro | $24.92/month with annual billing | About $299.04/year from rounded rate |
| AudioJungle | Item and music-license price | Purchase rights for a defined application |
Artlist's production pricing guide excludes VAT. Annual totals above multiply its displayed rounded monthly equivalents; the checkout supplies the final charge. Pro plans use annual billing. AudioJungle prices vary by author, item and license, so a universal “per song” figure would misrepresent a quote. Sources: Artlist pricing guide, AudioJungle music listings.
Check current Artlist discounts against the full annual cost. If you are considering a third service, compare Epidemic Sound offers on the same billing basis.
2. Personal channels versus commercial production
Artlist separates Social and Pro coverage. Social fits specified personal channels and a podcast; client assignments and paid advertisements need the relevant Pro or Business coverage. AudioJungle's Music Standard license can cover a commercial end product for a client, within its distribution limits. Paying the client invoice does not by itself require AudioJungle's highest license tier. Sources: Artlist plan explanation, AudioJungle Standard terms.
Compare permission first, then price. Artlist's cheapest personal plan is a poor benchmark for a freelancer who needs commercial project rights.
3. One production, variations and future campaigns
AudioJungle covers one application. Its terms permit qualifying variations of an end product, such as certain cutdowns and translations, and refer buyers to the FAQ. A later campaign for a different brief needs its own assessment. Source: Music Standard license.
Artlist lets an eligible subscriber work across qualifying projects during the paid term. That can reduce purchase administration for a busy editor. It does not remove the obligation to identify the license holder, intended use and publication date. Treat a client's request for “all future uses” as a scope question before accepting it.
4. Publication deadlines and cancellation
Artlist's terms require you to create and publish qualifying projects during an active subscription for the stated post-expiry coverage. Saving a downloaded track for an unpublished film next year does not establish that coverage. Continuing rights also remain subject to the license and rights-related provisions. Source: Artlist license.
AudioJungle's ongoing license attaches to the allowed application. For a single project with a distant release date, that can fit better than paying for a production subscription through publication. Map the production schedule before comparing a one-off purchase with an annual commitment.
5. Music, sound effects and file versions
Artlist Music Pro and Music & SFX Pro are different purchases. Choose the combined plan if you need both. Artlist's help page describes music stems and creative workflow features, but check availability for the assets you shortlist. Source: Artlist music and SFX plans.
AudioJungle listings can include alternate lengths or versions, with music and SFX using different license structures. Inspect each item's included files before approving it. A bundle containing a full mix and short edits does not mean the seller supplies isolated instrument groups. Source: AudioJungle license overview.
6. Search and soundtrack approval
For client approval, the practical test is the cue under the client's dialogue and pacing. Shortlist tracks around the brief's requirements: an opening without a long build, room for speech and an ending that matches the edit.
Artlist's plans describe features such as Artboards, Similar Songs and its Premiere Pro extension. AudioJungle gives you author-specific pages and item descriptions. Use those details to confirm versions and sound before checkout. Sources: Artlist workflow features, AudioJungle category.
7. Television, cinema and product distribution
AudioJungle separates Music Standard, Broadcast (1 Million), Mass Reproduction, Broadcast (10 Million) and Broadcast & Film. The tiers differ on broadcast audience, downloaded or physical copies and theatrical release. Standard includes most web uses but excludes broadcast; higher tiers address wider distribution. Source: AudioJungle music license table.
Artlist lists broadcasts and TV under qualifying Pro coverage, subject to the actual license and business eligibility. Send your client distribution list through the terms: web ad, television, paid course, app and cinema release are different uses. A general statement that both services allow commercial projects cannot settle that list. Source: Artlist current pricing and coverage guide.
8. Copyright notices and performance rights
Artlist uses Clearlist for supported channels and individual videos. AudioJungle buyers may need a license certificate to clear Content ID notices. Envato's current guide explains the available dispute and author-contact routes. Automated copyright claims can still occur with either service. Sources: Artlist license and clearing terms, Envato Content ID guide.
For AudioJungle PRO-affiliated music, check public-performance requirements and cue-sheet information. “Royalty-free” does not itself waive separate performance obligations. Source: Envato PRO guidance.
9. Teams, agencies and client handover
Artlist's current plan guide directs creative agencies and larger organizations to Business coverage. Team eligibility and seats matter even if only one editor usually downloads music. Do not assume one individual's subscription covers an agency account. Source: Artlist Business and Team descriptions.
With either provider, distinguish a finished deliverable from the raw music library. The client needs the agreed project rights and supporting records. Unrestricted transfer of your account, unused downloads or standalone assets requires separate permission.
10. Download limits and record keeping
Artlist applies fair-use download limits, despite its broad-access subscription model. AudioJungle lets you download purchased files and certificates from your account, but Envato recommends downloading promptly because authors may remove items. Archive the cue, license and purchase record with the production. Sources: Artlist license limits, Envato download guidance.

FAQs
Does Artlist Music Pro include sound effects?
No. Artlist lists Music Pro and Music & SFX Pro at different prices. Check the selected plan rather than treating “Pro” as one bundle.
Is AudioJungle a monthly subscription?
Direct AudioJungle purchases use individual item licenses. Envato Elements is a separate subscription product.
Can an Artlist Social subscriber make paid client videos?
The Social license is for specified personal-channel use. Client production requires the appropriate commercial plan and business eligibility.
Can I publish an Artlist project after canceling?
A download alone does not grant that permission. Its terms require qualifying creation and publication during the active term for continued coverage.
